Shree Ravechi Dham Temple welcomes you to the holy place of the Place Of Ravechi Dham Ta. Rapar Vagad Kutch and the sacred soil where from Bhagvan Shri Ravechi Mataji took his last journey to his neejdham. The temple is built at the shore of the Rav Village on the Western corner of Indian subcontinent. This pilgrimage is one of the oldest and find its reference in the ancient texts like Other Inkarmation Of Godesst Maa Ashapura Desh Devi Of Kutch.
A temple of Goddess Ravechi Mata, a confined goddess, is on the bank of a large and beautiful pond in Rav. This temple was built in 1821. It is almost 54 feets high. It is said that this temple was built by the Pandavas and was destroyed by the troops of one of the Babies chiefs. In the current monument with five other images, there is a great Svayambhu or self-born statue of Ravechi Mata.

After traveling over the expanse of desert in western Kutch, you find the Koteshwar Temple, at a place where the immensity of dry land meets the incomprehensible vastness of the sea. After so much arid ground, the sight of the ocean will awaken your spirits; though the sea is even less hospitable to humans, a sobering thought. The only point that breaks the skyline from the flat brown horizon to the east and the wide blue horizon to the west is the point of the Koteshwar Temple, the last outpost of human construction at the westernmost limit of India. Not overrun by tourists like the temple at Dwarka, Koteshwar is conducive to contemplating emptiness, pondering the place of humanity on earth (and ultimately, isn’t that what spiritual traditions are about?).

The story of Koteshwar begins with Ravana, who won a boon from Lord Shiva for an outstanding display of piety. This boon was the gift of a Shiva linga of great spiritual power, but which Ravana, in his arrogant haste, accidentally dropped and it fell to earth at Koteshwar. To punish Ravana for his carelessness, the linga turned into a thousand identical copies (some versions of the story say ten thousand, some a million; suffice to say it was quite a lot.) Unable to distinguish the original, Ravana grabbed one and departed, leaving the original one here, around which Koteshwar Temple was built.

Visitors can see the temple, walk along the beach and on a clear night, even see the glow of light from Karachi, Pakistan, on the northwestern horizon.

KUTCH’S PANCH TITHI

  • As mahamantra is great of all mantras… Kalpavruksha is great of all trees… Shaitrunjayis the greatest among all the tiraths… likewise it is said that Parushan is greatest of all parva.
Parushan is a spiritual festival. Jain dharma is the dharm of soul.  This year due to timely and a good rain the festival of Parushan was celebrated whole-heartedly by the locals and the Desvads. They were very excited about the celebration. Majorly there was a great rush in the main panch tiraths of Abhdasa taluka like Tera, Naliya, Jakhai, Kothara, Suthari etc.
This year Achalghachadhipati Pujya Gunoday Sagar Suriswarji Maharajsaheb had done their chaturmas in Godhara whereas Pujya Kalaprabh Sagar Suriswarji Maharajsaheb were in Kandagara. This year 47 villages celebrated chaturmas by Achlghach samuday of Kutch, in which 157 sadhu-sadhvis gave the preaching of Jain dharma.

About Kranti Teerth

The British ruled over India for over two hundred years. They ruthlessly exploited India’s economic resources and mercilessly oppressed the people. Many individuals took on the might of the British to free India. Shyamji Krishna Varma chose to take this fight to British soil and made London his base.Shyamji Krishna Varma was born on 4th October, 1857 in Mandvi town of Kutch district of Gujarat. He was one of the foremost freedom fighters in the history of the freedom movement of India with high sense of patriotism and selfless service for the nation. He had organized a revolutionary center in "India House" at London and propagated the cause of India’s independence through his writings in his publication journal called The "Indian Sociologist".
Shyamji Krishna Varma was not alone in his work. He was joined by many other great radical Indian Nationalists who were committed to free their motherland from the yoke of British rule. History

Bhadreswar was known as Bhadrawati Nagari in olden times. The ruins of ancient city of Bhadrawati can be found here.[2]
Bhadrawati was ruled by King Sidhsen in 449 B.C (according to the Hindu calendar) who renovated the place. Later it was ruled by The Solankies who were Jains, and they changed the name to Bhadreshwar. Then in 1315, a great famine struck Kutch, after which the town was renovated by Seth Jagdu Shah, the famous Jain merchant.[2][4]
The Bhadreshwar, today is famous for its centuries old Jain temples known as Bhadreswar Jain Temple. These temples are believed to be one of the oldest Jain temples in India, although they have been renovated and rehabilitated from time to time.[3] In year 1315, they have been renovated by Seth Jagdusha.[2][4] The temple complex has 53 Jinalays 52 of them built around main Bhadreswar Temple at the center, added over many centuries. The temples have been destroyed many times due to natural calamities like earthquakes and the chronicles of Mistris of Kutch, mention that they were the architects and artisans, who renovated temples during earthquakes of 1819, 1844–45 and 1875.[5][6][7] Recently, the temple complex was again completely devastated in earthquake of 26 January 2001, however, it has now been completely restored and renovated to its ancient glory. A whole new temple complex has been built, as many of the old temples were destroyed to the extent that it could not be rehabilitated.[3][8][9][10][11]
There is also an ancient Shiv temple known as Chakhanda Mahadev situated at the sea-shore and the big square step well known as the Pandavs Kund built by thePandavs 5000 years ago.[2] This beautiful old temple made with red colored rock was also destroyed in 2001 earthquake and has now been completely restored.[9]Besides there are also centuries old Rokadiya Hanuman temple and other architecture in this ancient site.
There is also are two mosques called Duda Masjid and Duda vaav in Bhadreshwar,[2] which is very old and which are reliably dated to the late 12th century, meaning they predate the well-known Islamic architecture of Ahmedabad by 250 years or so, making them in all likelihood the first mosques built in India.[3]

[edit] A battle that was never fought

On December 15, 1815, the army of Kingdom of Kutch was defeated near Bhadreswar, Kutch. As per history the armies of British led by Colonel East and Army of Kutch led by a Muslim commander, Hussain Miyan met near Bahdreshwar. The British army was behind the famous Bhadreswar Jain Temple and temple was coming in between them. Husain Miya respected the sanctity of temple and he didn’t fire on British, fearing temples might be damaged and as such doors were laid open for British Army. The nearest major fortified town of AnjarPort of Tuna & District of Anjar thus came under British occupation on December 25, 1815. This led to negotiations between rulers of Kutch and British. The Jadeja rulers of Kutch accepted the suzerainty of British in 1818 and Captain James Meckmardo was posted as British Political Resident stationed at Bhuj. The Anjar District, however, remained under direct occupation of British forces for seven years till December 25, 1822, when it was reverted back to Rajya Hukumat ( to Princely State of Kutch ) by way on agreement.[7][12]

[edit] Recent Developments

Recently, there are plans to start a thermal power plant at Bhadreswar.[1][13] The Bhadreshwar has been included in special economic zone of Mundra. However, the local fisherman and other communities have protested the development and there is resentment that the traditional livelihoods of residents in the area have also been affected by the new industrial projects, leading to organized protests.[14][15] The power plant project is still awaiting clearance from environment ministry of India.[16]
